Sagami Bay Yellowfin: Ebing from Chigasaki's Isshun-maru
— 38 Boats off Odawara, Only a Handful Hooked Up
Date / Area
Nov 3, 2026 / Sagami Bay, off Odawara (Isshun-maru, Chigasaki Port)
Technique / Target
Ebing / Yellowfin tuna
Result
No fish
No hits on our boat / only a handful of the 38 boats off Odawara hooked up
On Nov 3, 2026, I went out from Isshun-maru at Chigasaki Port in Shonan, ebing for yellowfin tuna in Sagami Bay. The result: no fish. Nobody on the boat got a hit.
The first good fishing weather in a while
It was the first good fishing weather in a while. There was some northeast wind, but the swell was small.
38 boats off Odawara, only a handful hooked up
The boats gathered off Odawara. All 38 were drifting the same way, but only a handful of boats got a hit. Fish had been caught day after day, but this day it suddenly stopped. Days like this happen.
How the tackle felt
This trip was also a test of my rod, reel and line.
The DAIWA Outrage BR J60B-5 rod bends beautifully — excellent. The Saltiga 35H reel is smooth. With a fighting gimbal on, jerking was so much easier.
The Durasensor 8+Si2 line changes color every 10m, one full cycle every 50m, so it's easy to tell how much line is out.
Summary
Good weather, but only a handful of the 38 boats off Odawara got a hit, and I ended with no fish. Still, the Outrage BR, Saltiga 35H and Durasensor combo felt great to use. After August's opening-week grind, the yellowfin will have to wait once again.
